WESTCHESTER, NY: On a recent Sunday afternoon, over 450 guests gathered at Coker Farm for The Dances with Horses II benefit, organized by the Westchester Horse Council's (WHC) Board and led by President Debbie Shecter. The event benefited St. Mary's Rehabilitation Center for Children, which lacks the equipment necessary for much of the complex medical care and rehabilitation work provided to patients suffering from life-threatening conditions. Through ticket sales and the silent auction, volunteers were able to raise $8,000 that will go directly to helping patients of the medical center.

Judy Richter, Coker Farm's owner, donated her land for the benefit, which a few patients from the St. Mary's Healthcare Rehabilitation Center for Children spent the afternoon enjoying. Attendees watched Westchester riders Kristen Tregar, Nicki Esdorn, Joe Calandra, Gail Nardozzi, Steve Shecter, Simone Gell and Lisa Pierson.

Event planner and President of Maplemint Enterprises, Inc., Alison Minton of Katonah, and her mother Barbara Minton, Board Member of WHC for over 20 years and current Treasurer, joined WHC President Debbie Shecter, Vice President Lawrence Mignone, Secretary Sue Baruc, Chairman John Baruc, Mary Jane Anderson, Nancy Himmelblau, Agnes Stangarone and Jose Boyer, MD in volunteering for the afternoon's horse and rider exhibition, pony rides, face painting by Westchester resident Stephanie King, petting zoo and more.

Donors to the silent auction included: Steiner Sports, Bedford Poolscapes, luxury jewelry designer Adria de Haume, art expert Michel Cox Witmer, Scaglio's Market Place, Willie Nick's Restaurant, Leahy & Johnson Attorneys at Law, S.P.I. Books, ART Images, Cross River Pharmacy, Gardentales, Horse Connection, Lucia Restaurant, Scott's Corner Market, True Value Bedford Hardware, Allison Weiss Brady, The Lady Barber Kathleen Giordano, Craig Danforth, Maplemint Enterprises, Inc., and landscaper Cheryl Thomsen, as well as Judith Ripka and Cartier. The auction continues online at the WHC web site (www.westchesterhorsecouncil.org ) due to the high number of items collected.
