David Patrick Columbia's New York Social Diary

20 October 2008

A sunny, chilly autumn weekend in New York

Thursday night saw the opening night Preview of the 20th Annual International Fine Art & Antique Dealers Show benefiting Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center at the Park Avenue Armory at 67th and Park. The autumn antique show as many call it kind of marks the official beginning of the season.

The MSKCC is one of the most prestigious philanthropies in New York and its membership reflects it in terms of name-power. It is also one of those philanthropies where the chairs get out and and sell those tickets. This is required and expected if you want to belong to this group. I didn’t make it to the preview hours although I was told it was a big crowd and quite glamorous and every guest was greeted by the committee chairs, grateful for every ticket buying guest. This is the MSKCC’s big annual fundraiser. JH got there to photograph the stalls and NYSD got a lot of shots of the guests later on down this Diary entry.

We close out today's diary with the many faces (thanks to Ann Watt) and exhibitors (courtesy of JH) of the 20th Annual International Fine Art & Antique Dealers Show benefiting Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center at the Park Avenue Armory at 67th and Park. We suggest going over to the Armory yourself so you can see the exceptional quality works of art from antiquity to the present day.
